Widows and Child Support Update:
- Our ongoing support initiatives encompass the provision of regular upkeep funds for widows, addressing their food and general expenses. We also prioritize the needs of our school-going beneficiaries by supplying essential pocket money.
- In May, we expanded our support efforts by providing additional financial assistance to a widow-owned business, empowering her and fostering financial independence.
Sickle Cell Awareness & Education Update:
Campaigns
- Successfully executed interactive campaigns for #WorldSickleCellDay in June 2023 and Sickle Cell Awareness Month in September of the same year.
Outreach & Awareness
- NOMINATE A WARRIOR: In August 2023, we invited public nominations for individuals living with sickle cell disease in preparation for Sickle Cell Awareness Month. Through our collaboration with FAMASI AFRICA, we reached 22 warriors across Lagos, Abuja, Delta, Kaduna, Ogun, Osun, and Ondo states. Care packages included a month’s supply of vital medications, vitamins, water bottles for hydration, and cozy socks for warmth.
- Educational Resources: In collaboration with a U.S based sickle cell author and advocate, we secured discounts on essential educational resources for children and preteens living with sickle cell disease in Nigeria. These resources were distributed at a Christmas party hosted by the Crimson Bow Foundation in December, demonstrating our commitment to cross-foundation collaboration.
